Nevena Veljkovic
Founder and CEO

As the driving force behind GENIAL, Nevena harnesses the synergy of life sciences and data analytics.

With deep roots in bioinformatics, her journey features a notable 20 years long tenure at the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences as Principal Research Fellow. Building on her role as a researcher, Nevena directed the Laboratory for Bioinformatics and Computational Chemistry for half a decade.

Before her ventures at GENIAL, Nevena contributed to the healthcare IT domain in the area of health data analytics as the Chief Scientific Officer at Heliant. Her distinguished teaching legacy at the University of Belgrade encompasses pivotal subjects such as Genomics, Chemical Biology, and Bioinformatics, fortifying future talents in the field.

With a PhD in Biotechnology & Biochemical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Biomedicine from the University of Belgrade, and over 70 peer-reviewed publications, Nevena brings profound academic and research expertise to her dynamic contributions in both research and industry. Her scientific portfolio encompasses projects in proteomics, genomics and machine learning in biomedicine. She mentored PhD theses in the fields of biology, pharmacy, and medicine.
